New Years Resolutions

The New Year is approaching and you know what that means. Time to make your 2010 resolutions. Whether it's organizing your closet, laying off the soda, or clearing your schedule for more family time, everyone has something they wish for. Just because it's a new year doesn't necessarily mean you have to throw away every item in your closet because it is just "last season's". Fashion is what you make of it. Money is tight- and I totally understand that not everyone can go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, that's why I have a few simple solutions for you. So, recently I went to a consignment shop called Buffalo Exchange and if you bring them new or gently worn clothes, they either give you store credit or cash in exchange for your items. They sell all types of adorable clothes to Juicy handbags, Harajuku heels, Ed Hardy tees, and Hollister jeans. It's an inexpensive way to get some new clothes. Or there's always a yard sale. I know it is so not easy to part with your size 5 Jimmy Choo boots- but face it honey, your size 7 feet will never squeeze into them. A yard sale is a perfect and simple way to get some extra cash. You may wonder, what are my new year's resolutions, well to name a few:
1. Organize my drawers
2. Keep A's and occasional B's this semester
3. Exercise every single day
4. Practice my turns and leaps for Performance
5. Spend more quality time with my family
Make a list of your own and set out to achieve your goals. You never know what that new year will bring. I wish all of you luck in 2010! If you email me your New Years Resolutions I will post a few lucky people's list up here on my website! If you have any comments, concerns, or need advice you can email me madison@madison-skye.com

Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

Giving back during Christmas is big this Holiday season. Isn't that what Christmas is all about? Its not about presents, its about family and helping those in need. Here are only a few out of the many opportunities to give back to your community:
1. Starbucks Red- All You Need is Love
Starbucks is teaming up with RED in the fight against Aids in Africa. It's as simple as buying one of the RED products- a portion of their profits to Global Fund- financed Aid programs.
2. Feed My Starving Children
Local Churches are doing packaging events to feed children in Africa. They give them the basics- chicken, veggies, soy, and rice. 1 meal packet can feed up to 6 kids. Feed My Starving Children is a non- profit Christian organization. I was able to attend one at my church and in one night we packaged 73,000- enough to feed 205 kids every single day for 1 year.
3. Angel Trees
Angel Trees are located everywhere in your community, but you will most likely find some at your local grocery store or at the mall. It as simple as this, pick out a card from the tree, buy something that the children need or want, then turn it in. Even if you are hurting for the Holiday season, contributing by 1 donation can make a big difference. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! New Moon Review

I have to say, as a big fan of the Twilight Saga, that this movie was exceptionally good. When reading the books, this was my least favorite, but the movie changed my perspective and kind of made me see in Jacob's point of view. I am and always will be Team Edward, but I still absolutely adore Jacob. The movie was passionate, dramatic, and left you wanting more. The cliffhanger at the end just makes me anxious for the next movie Eclipse. I recommend this movie to everyone who is a big fan of the books, or who is in the mood for a passive love story and the complications that go along with it. I don't want to give away any spoilers to any of you who haven't seen it or haven't finished reading the book, but I just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed it and it was definitely better than the first. Jacob surprised me and took my breath away. Fans will no doubt enjoy the shirtless Taylor Lautner. Kristen and Rob's off screen chemistry definitely shines through their characters Edward and Bella. And having a new addition like Dakota as Jane was definitely a great pleasure for this movie. If you have any thoughts or questions, please email me at madison@madison-skye.com

Phoenix Fashion Week

PHX Fashion Week was the best day of my life. I got to see fashion shows by Rebel Yell, Blaque Label, 7 Diamonds, VMarie, Li Cari by Jazmin, and many more. Among the celebs were Frankie Muniz and TV star and 21 year old designer Jazmin. I was fortunate to get to talk to her and her best friend. Her clothes were bright and bold fashion pieces that were very well created. I could hardly contain my excitement as I sat third row with a VIP pass at my very first fashion show at just age 14. Fashion is definately something I want to pursue in the next few years. This was an amazing experience and I can't wait to go next year. Maybe I'll even get to go to Scottsdale Fashion Week? Who knows what's next for me. Check out my new article in Perfectify magazine Monday! Love the Teen Fashionista, Madison Skye. XOXO

The Romper

The Romper- Whether denim or silk the romper is hot. They are perfect for summer because of their cool and casual vibe and good for a formal event because they are daring and classy. For a summer styled romper in a bright or patterned color, go with a gladiator sandal, espadrilles, or wedges. Rompers are made to make your legs look longer so go for it. Go light with the jewelry so your look doesn't look to overdone. Tote bags usually go with summer. For a formal inspired style, pair your darker colored romper with a lighter blazer to give your outfit some edge. Then accessorize with a headband, simple earrings, and a chunky necklace. Add a pair of simple black/ dark pumps to keep your look crisp and classy. Keep it simple with a dark colored or black purse/clutch that will draw more eyes to your outfit than to your accessories. The accessories are there to boost up the rating of your outfit. This is a big trend spotted in some of the biggest fashion magazines like Teen Vogue, Vogue, Allure, InStlye, Elle. You see all your hot celebs sporting this fab trend, so now its your turn. Make it your own and take risks. Fashion is what we the people make of it. XoXo Madison Skye

The Little Black Dress

The Current Version of : The Little Black Dress. One-shoulder black dresses are all the rage. The one-shoulder style is a sexy way to bare skin without showing too much of it and being tacky or tasteless. All eyes will be on you and it will boost your confidence. You can't go wrong with black because it compliments any skin tone and is said to make you look thinner. Whether your dining in town or hitting a few shops- this look is perfect for day and night with just a few simple swaps. For example, during the day go with a black gladiator sandal. Then at night, opt for a pair of black pumps. You can also make the swap by wearing a little chain necklace during the day and a chunky necklace at night. Pick a clutch or bag that can both be used in the day and at night so it will make it easier for you to swap looks. For a little black dress, there are many fabrics you can choose. Pick the one that you will get the most use out of whether it's a cotton blend or silk. You never have to worry about the little black dress going out of style because it really never does. Next time you can't decide on what to wear or buy, put on that little black dress and embrace your inner sexiness. XoXo Madison Skye.

HOPE KIDS

Hope Kids are my inspiration. I like to be a part of something special like that. They are sweet little girls and boys with big hearts. They warmed up my heart and it made me feel good to help people who are disabled, have cancer, and just little ones. I will always remember the little girl Rebecca who I see as a little me. I see the potential in those kids. Thank god for giving them Hope! ♥ They truly deserve it. Last night I was given the amazing opportunity to go to a Church for a Hope Kids event for cheer and I got to help the kids. I taught them cheers, showed them some tumbling, played catch, tickled them. It was great to see the smile on their faces and to hear their laughter. These kids are very smart and they all have bright futures. This little girl was singing You Are My Sunshine to me, another one doing cartwheels, they just done ever give up. I know how hard it is to see people like that, but think of how happy it makes them feel. All they want is to be treated normally and want to be reminded at least as possible of their disability. They are nice and courteous children who always say please and thank you. They enjoyed playing games like Simon Says, Elevate, and Sally Walker. I even got to hand out little pom poms to everyone. Its so cool to see these little kids adopt you. My little buddy Rebecca said bye and gave me a big hug and said "I will never forget you, you made me happy." To me, that means the world. I hope to be back next year, helping these kids again. :) XoXo Madison Skye

Summer Styles

Hair is not put there to hang on your face. Your style, cut, color, and even accessories help to make your hairdo you! Hair on all your famous celebs may not look practical, but the truth is, some may be as easy to do it yourself then it is to wait at a salon for 5 hours. Summers can get really hot and humid. The easiest thing to do is throw it up in a pony tail. The kind of pony tail I'm talking about is almost an effortless look. Here are the steps for picture one with Leighton Meester modeling. Step 1: Tease the top of your hair to a minimum to give it some body and a little bit of a bump. Step 2:Put your hair up and pull out your bangs (If you have any). This will not only make your hair look cute, it will also look like you weren't trying to be cute which is exactly what you want, an effortless style.Step 3: Either create a sleek and stylish pony that will make your hair look girlie or a power poof to make your hair look edgy where you can let your hair be wild (Wavy, teased, a little frizzy). The look to hairstyle two modeled by Hayden Panettiere is as easy as one, two, three. This style can either work on short or long hair. Step 1: Apply a mousse in your hair along with a little smooth and shine to create waves. Step 2: Pull your hair back into a low ponytail and put it in a messy bun. Step 3: Use bobby pins to pin down the stray fly aways of your hair. This will give your messy bun a clean and crisp look in a matter of minutes. Not into wearing your hair up? That's okay because in style three Blake Lively sports a down do with loose waves and a braid. Step 1: However you want to do it, make loose waves whether with a mousse, a straightener, etc. Step 2: Create a braid with your bangs- small or big. Whatever you feel more comfortable with. You can also do this look with a half up, half down hairdo. Hope these tips helped you with the current summer styles. (The pictures up above are the 3 different styles going from top to bottom) XoXo Madison Skye

Cheer Camp '09

Wow! What an awesome experience. Cheer Camp was a blast! It not only improves your cheer and dance skills, it also improves your leadership and your dedication to work hard and try your best. The first night of cheer camp was pretty funny. I got up to go to the bathroom and to my surprise, there was a roach. I was unable to speak so I said oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! The girls were like what? I screamed roach and the girls immediately jumped on the bed. This wasn't a teeny tiny bug, it was about the size of my fist. My friend called downstairs to come and pick it up. Meanwhile my other friend tried to catch it with a cup and we finally caught it under the bed with the cup. Then they came and removed it. During this, the coaches that were 5 doors down heard us screaming and my friend was talking in her sleep. It was classic. We learned tons of dancing and cheer routines and played fun games. I actually, along with my friend, won Ships and Sailors! Oh yes! By the 4th day when our parents got to watch, I was able to get a half to a press up extension cradle in stunting which to me is amazing since I am a flyer with no stunting experience. We stayed at a nice Hilton hotel and the pool/lazy river was very refreshing. I cant wait for next year's cheer camp. I couldn't wait to go home and watch the movie Bring It On. And a tip to all attending cheer camp: Bring IcyHot (Meet your new best friend to your sore muscles) XoXo Madison Skye

Shoe Stopper

Shoes are the part of your outfit that holds it together and completes your look. There are many different varities of shoes that will complete your outfit. You can rely on your shoes for support or to even edge or glam up any look- it's the foundation of your outfit. You can have a great dress, but the truth is, if your shoes are ugly, people wont even look past your shoes. Most us when we think of a shoe, we think of a Christian Louboutin pump. There are tons of different shoes out there like espadrilles, wedges, flats, gladiators. The shoe you choose to wear will depend on the look you're going for. If you are trying to go for a vintage and Rock N Roll inspiration, try ankle boots to make it edgy. Fashion is all about taking risks. If you want a summery and casual vibe, go for a nice lace up espadrille sandal that will not only make you legs looks longer, but will make you look and feel confident. As Jean-Paul Gaultier says "Elegance is a question of personality, more than one's clothing." Don't go by what I say or even what a fashion magazine says. Im just here to assist you and fashion is merely up to you and how you want your personal style to be. XoX, Madison Skye.
